Is Lyme Disease Genetic?

The bacterium that breeds in the body of ticks causes Lymes disease. This was how I got this disease. However, there is an increase in discussion amongst scientists, as to whether Lymes disease is genetic or not. Recently, they have found a genetic factor that increases the chances of people suffering from chronic arthritis. This can change the disease from an almost unnoticeable ailment to an affliction that may last for many years.

This form of arthritis develops in only, one in ten people amongst whom the disease is untreated. All of them have an inherited factor, a component on the surface of the white blood cells. This chronic arthritis usually contains the same antibiotics that cure arthritis in its initial stage. Often, these drugs are ineffective in their chronic phases.

To your surprise, Scientists do not even have knowledge, as to whether patient’s heart and other complications have links to inherited factors. However, they have a firm belief that eventually, the hereditary factor may open up new avenues for the treatment of Lymes disease. For instance, people who suffer from this disease may also receive an intensive antibiotic treatment. This research was one of the many studies on an increasingly troublesome ailment.

These findings also contribute to one of the most intractable problems that doctors face with the Lymes disease. That is the inability to tell for sure, as to who suffers from the disease and who does not. The research is one amongst the many studies on the increasingly troublesome ailments.

Main Factors:

As you now know that, the main cause of Lymes disease is a bacterium that spreads through tiny ticks. Many people who are bitten by the ticks develop a tell tale rash. A week or so later, there are high chances that they suffer from flu like systems. This may also include mild fever, swollen lymph glands, malaise and headache. However, for most of them, the symptoms are mild and in some cases, there is no symptom at all. Although most people recover fully, for others, they emerge years later.

Recently, scientists and researchers have reported these findings at Stockholm on the Fourth International Meeting on Lymes disease. Researchers are carrying out more studies on the nature of the disease. Until that period, it is important for people who suffer from Lymes disease to have early treatment and undertake preventive measures.

In short, prevention and early detection is the best way to treat this disease.
